JBSL Team Planning for 2020

JBSL Team Planning for 2020

Following the end of a busy 2019 year for Jones Business Solutions we took some time in January to review the past year as well as plan ahead for 2020. Our team planning was held over a weekend in January in Maraekakaho where we reflected and looked forward.

Reflecting on the year’s achievements (it is so easy to focus on things that haven’t gone so well) makes you realise how much gets done!  Developing our team, adding new clients, launching JBSL Learn (Xero training for bookkeepers and our community) some of the things that kept us busy.  Highlights were being named a finalist for the NZ Xero Bookkeeping Partner of the Year and then achieving our Xero Gold Partner status in November 2019. We helped a business at short notice just before Xmas where one of the owners had died, and undertook a 10 year accounts rescue job that showcased our collective skills and expertise.

We recognise the importance of supporting our team in all aspects of our lives – our health and wellbeing key to us performing well at work. The team contributed to what JBSL is about, and what strengths, both individually and collectively we bring to the visit.  Analysing risks and weaker points too helped shape our goals for 2020 – as a business, individually, and as a team.

We encourage our clients to undertake this type of exercise. It is not just about the financial results! Looking at client retention, staff turnover, number of projects completed, gross margin results, surveying clients and staff (find out what they really think!) are some of the ways you can measure your success.

If you would like some ideas on how to review your past year’s performance, or if you want some help preparing some financial analysis let us know – we already know about the benefits of doing so.
